First things first, what is lurker tax, or lurking tax? I hadn’t heard of “Lurking Tax” before moving from another site to All Things Worn.
At first, I thought “wow you really can get paid for anything” — and that definitely can be the case (my favourite order to date has to be for my floor sweepings!)
Since being on ATW I’ve seen lurking tax mentioned by both sellers and buyers. I considered both perspectives and decided I wanted to add my two cents …
So here it is, my first blog post. Kinda spontaneous and not on a topic I would have expected, but I have something to say!
It is considered “lurking” to consistently view a seller’s profile, admiring their content but not supporting them. That is why you may be asked to pay your “tax”, or to send a tip.
If we see you regularly viewing our profile, we’re probably going to approach you to see if you’re considering making a purchase. and you should not be surprised if we’re annoyed to discover that you don’t intend to. Especially if we think you may be using our posts as jerking material!
It’s a big reason as to why sellers make their profile private (It’s also a good reason for sellers to censor their pics. aside from it being the rules, it deters buyers from visiting your profile to literally cum and go!)
The internet is full of free porn. and in my opinion, ATW is way more than just a marketplace for worn items. This is a space to interact with beautiful people and content creators, and to pay for that experience.
I mean really, would you expect to talk to your favourite pornstar for free? to even engage in sexual conversation with them? you’d say, “surely not - that’s too good to be true! why would they do that for free?”
Here we offer a whole variety of services you can buy, but buyers rarely consider the time and work spent on all other the other aspects of being a seller on ATW.
We have to post regularly throughout the day, reply to messages, always taking new pictures and videos, uploading listings, going to the post office, updating drives, keeping track of outstanding orders, making sure we maintain a stock of vials or tenga eggs etc…
Then there’s real life! Most of us have a vanilla job and other important responsibilities. And of course, not forgetting to mention that sellers pay their membership to be here!
If you are not here to purchase, whether it be physical items, digital content or experiences (femdom, sexting, etc) Then *in my opinion* you should not be here. and you need to understand that is the general consensus amongst most sellers here.
There are two options when you create an account on ATW: buyer or seller. Need I say more?
So, my bottom line to all buyers offended by the prospect of lurking tax:
I personally do not mind seeing repeated views on my profile, especially from those who have completed orders previously or who have positive reviews.
I understand you may have items saved and want to come back. I understand that there are so many options in terms of sellers and listings, and that of course you may want to check out a profile again before deciding on your purchase.
I also understand if you’re completely infatuated with someone, there are so many beautiful sellers here every day that I’m drooling too. Maybe you’re simply just waiting for payday!
We get it. but respect sellers’ time. respect the hustle!
So, if a seller messages you because they’ve noticed you’ve viewed their profile *repeatedly*, don’t ignore them. Be honest if you’re not ready to make a purchase yet.
A lot of us would appreciate that over someone who says they want something then doesn’t pay for an order we set up.
Because what’s worse than a lurker?
A time waster! So definitely don’t do that.
A little can go a long way and it’s all appreciated!
